Roger Weather Adventure 2.0 In the real world, when flights are of certain length, it is highly improbable to find constant meteorological conditions for the whole journey. Because of this, I have created an adventure that provides changing meteorological conditions, making flying more realistic. I tried to create a simple program and easy to use in order to avoid long studies and to be able to use it without problems. INSTRUCTIONS: When the adventure is loaded you are tuned in on the nearest International Meteo center (ES: INTERNATIONAL METEO 44) and the conditions of departure are created automatically followed by the statement of the weather center that will identify the initial time with (I.T.N.0.0.0): In this version 10 possible weather exist: 1. beautiful, mild climate, light wind generally from north, good visibility. 2. beautiful but very cold, high wind generally from East, good visibility. 3. beautiful with gusty wind, presence of cirrus, medium visibility 4-6 partly cloudy, presence of one or more layers of clouds, wind and medium visibility, thunderstorm possible. 7-8 cloudy, presence of one or more layers of clouds, wind and medium visibility, thunderstorm possible. 9. covered, cold and windy, thunderstorm possible. 10. Covered, low clouds, low visibility (fog), light wind, mild climate, wind from south. Once the weather has been established the meteo center will communicate the forecast that can be of 5 types: 1. fast amelioration 2. gradual amelioration 3. stable 4. gradual worsening 5. rapid worsening Finally you will be communicated the data related to temperature, wind, clouds, haze, turbulence, ice, etc. To every change of the conditions or the forecast, the center will send an updated bulletin to us. We can require the bulletin to be updated by pressing the keys however (SHIFT i). With the key (CTRL y) we can change the type weather, sequentially from the 10 types listed above. With the key (CTRL t) we change the forecast casually on 5 listed above. With the key (CTRL w) we activate the wind stop under 900 feet With the key (CTRL r) we initialize the program and you will be tuned in again on the center nearest meteo. Our climate will also be influenced by: altitude (wind and temperature), latitude (temperatures), season (temperature and turbulence). The variations set initially and, above all, in the evolution of the weather are influenced by multiple factors in the attempt to make it closer to reality. I Suggest to use a gauge that visualizes temperature and wind speed/direction, since wind and temperature vary a lot with the altitude. Embraer 120's Panel (Hangar of Mediterranea) have all that we need. In the adventure we will also have some helps (optional) for the navigation and for the landing. All the " optional " are disarmed at the start of the adv.: with the key (CTRL g) we activate the Ground Proximity System that tells us the altitude during the landing; with the key (CTRL h) we activate the control on the altitude set on the autopilot (+/- 500 feet) with the key (CTRL a) we activate the autoland that deserves its own paragraph.. Once activated the autoland (CTRL a) it is advisable to indicate the category of the airplane that we are piloting by pressing the corresponding number: 1 small airplanes one engine 2 airplanes two engines 3 jet 4 Boeing 737 - 747 and similar 5 Boeing 777 and similar At this time you have to line up on the descent path (ILS) of any airport and at about 1000 feet from the runway the autoland (if activated) will enter in operation. The essential operations are three: ? Select the speed of descent on the autopilot (VS) with a value between -400 and -1000, according to the category and of the speed of the airplane (the higher the speed and higher is the descent rate). ? Select the speed on the autopilot or regulate the power adequately. ? Set the flaps for the landing to around 30 degrees If everything works the autoland will think about everything also the inversion of the motors (where it exists) once on the runway. You will have to think about braking only and, in presence of wind, to check the rudder. If the airplane moves from the path within certain limits, a landing of fortune will be tried. Over these limits of tolerance and once stopped on the runway, the autoland will be disconnected automatically. Notes on the autoland: I have tried to create an autoland that is functional and versatile and in the next versions I am looking forward to improve it, nevertheless every airplane has its own characteristics and different behaviors, therefore, to write an algorithm that satisfies all of them is practically impossible. If you notice that with your airplane the autoland does not work or that, or that you can do it better manually, don't use you it! Installation: The installation is very simple: just put the adventure in the directory of ADV of flight simulator, the lines .wav in the directory ADV\WAV and to load the adventure from FS 98. In FS2000 put ADV, BRF file and BMP file in directory ADV\BEG and WAV file in directory ADV\WAV PLEASE VISIT PAGE FOR NEWS http://www.fortunecity.com/underworld/soundcard/38/rtw/rogerw.htm ************************************************************************************************ A SPECIAL THANKS TO PHILIPPE BOYER AND GIOVANNI COMBATTELLI FOR THE ACTIVE COLLABORATION TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THIS WORK. ************************************************************************************************ Good flight to everybody. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Legal notes: All the files are FREEWARE.
