Scenery Summary - This scenery has grown since back in 1993. It covers airports all over the state of Alaska. The airports should be very accurate because I have very good maps and guides. Any errors are because I am not a pilot and sometimes I have trouble reading the plates. The airports can have fuel (marked by a Yellow F [rebuilt airports have red] ), buildings, taxi lanes, trees, and more. The cities around the airport are bigger than real life, but this is Flight Sim. There are many valleys, Glaciers, Mountains, and open land. Main features are Mt. McKinley in Denali National Park (Southwest of Fairbanks) Glacier Bay and Glacier Bay National Park (near Juneau) Katmai National Park (near King Salmon) Gates of the Arctic National Park (North of Bettles) Cities have land features Lots of hidden features (need to fine them near cities) The Tour that comes with the scenery (see tour.txt) covers most of the scenery if you want to fly it. TO HELP SPEED UP SCENERY FRAME RATE, OBJECTS AROUND AIRPORTS ARE SET TO DENSE VIEWING. TO SEE ALL OBJECTS AROUND AIRPORTS, SET YOUR SCENERY COMPLEXITY TO VERY DENSE. (FASTER COMPUTERS CAN EASILY FLY AT THAT SETTING) SEE SCENERY.TXT FOR MORE INFO !**********************************************************************! ! !**********************************************************************! ! ! First print the Text files, they are useful ***** Some users uning FS98 have had problems using Method 1 ******** Method 1 copy all files in the BGL.ZIP file to your SCENERY directory under the flight sim directory copy all files in the TEXTURE.ZIP file to your TEXTURE directory Method 2 (recommend) USE THIS METHOD ONLY IF YOU KNOW HOW TO USE SECENERY AREA MANAGER ***************************************************************** The steps below are for version 6 of FS and FS98, Version 5.1 is similar *****> PREVIOUS USERS: DELETE THE TEXTURE DIRECTORY UNDER THE ALASKA DIRECTORY ALL TEXTURES NEED TO GO INTO THE FLIGHT SIM TEXTURE DIRECTORY 1. Make a directory under the Scenery Directory called Alaska 2. Make another directory call Scenery under the Alaska Directory 3. Copy all the files from the BGL.ZIP file in the Scenery directory you created 4. Copy all the files from the TEXTURE.ZIP file in the Texture directory (this is the main texture directory under the Flight Sim directory you may have a lot of these textures in you added another 3rd party scenery) 5. Start FS 6 or FS98 7. Under the World menu, select Scenery Library 8. When you get into the Scenery Library Window, Click Files 9. The Scenery Area screen will show up 10. Select a Local Scenery, Chicago if you have one, and click Edit 11. Copy the Information in the Scenery Area Path and Click Cancel 12. You should be back at the area Scenery Area Screen 13. Now Click Add 14. In the Scenery Area Path type in the information you copied in step 11. Where is says Chicago, type in Alaska 15. If you did step 14 correctly, the Scenery Area Title should be active 16. Enter a title, Alaska 17. Make the Scenery Type Local and put in a scenery area layer number like 0001 18. Make the scenery active. Directory Structure should look like this: C:\FltSim ......Scenery ...........Alaska ..............Scenery (all files in the BGL.ZIP file go here) ......Texture (all files in the TEXTURE.ZIP file go here) ******************************************************************* I have version FS 98 Comments are welcome and problems welcome. *****************************************************************
