The file nh23e.zip contains NetHack 2.2-2.3, patch level e, for Msdos,
a predecessor of the current version (NetHack 3.1.3).

From the readme file:

This is PC NetHack 2.3e.  It includes the addition of enhancements such
as the STOOGES ("Three wild and crazy guys,") the #sacrifice command,
and lots of other interesting things.  It does *not* include the YODA
patches, though I did use the fix for the bug in steal.c that allowed
the Nymph to steal your blindfold / bagde and leave you blind / badged
from that source.  If I can get that working, I'll distribute it
later.  Please send any bug reports to me at the address at the bottom
of this file.
