NewsWatcher 2.1.1 ================= November 26, 1995 NewsWatcher is a free Usenet newsreader for the Mac. This version fixes several errors in the recently released version 2.1. Errors fixed ------------ Version 2.1 crashed on 68000 Macs (the Plus, Classic, and SE). This turned out to be due to an error in the Metrowerks Codewarrior 7 development environment used to make NewsWatcher. Version 2.1.1 has a workaround to avoid this error. If a list window contained white space at the bottom, and you help down the command or shift key and clicked in the white space or dragged the mouse into the white space, NewsWatcher selected the wrong items in the list. Fixed. The "next thread" operation sometimes skipped over threads. Fixed. When you cancel a send message operation, if the message has already been posted, NewsWatcher asks if you want to cancel the article. Versions prior to 2.1 unchecked the news icon whether you canceled or not. This was wrong, and I tried to fix it in version 2.1, but I made a mistake. In version 2.1, NewsWatcher mistakenly left the news icon checked whether you canceled the article or not. 2.1.1 now does it correctly (I hope): The news icon is left checked if you cancel the article (so you can repost a corrected version), but it is unchecked if you click OK (because it has already been posted, and we want to avoid the posting of duplicate copies). When you open a user group list, NewsWatcher selects the first group with unread articles (if any) and scrolls it into view. The scrolling into view wasn't working perfectly - if the window was unzoomed, sometimes extra white space appeared at the bottom of the newly opened window when it shouldn't. Fixed. The customization feature which lets local site administrators add an STR# id=200 resource to the program to list groups which news users should be subscribed to by default was broken in 2.1. Fixed.
