NewsWatcher 2.1.2 ================= February 9, 1996 NewsWatcher is a free Usenet newsreader for the Mac. This version fixes several minor errors. Errors fixed ------------ NewsWatcher did not work with news servers which required authentication if you had the option to use Internet Config turned on and the option to save the authentication password turned off. Fixed. You can now drag groups as text from group windows to the bodies and other text fields of message windows. The log file generated by the "Log actions to file" option in the "Miscellaneous Options" prefs topic contained LF line terminators instead of the proper CR line terminators. Fixed. The low-level networking code now discards server response lines which do not begin with a numeric response code. These lines are treated as comments. In particular, this change fixes a problem which can occur with some Mac "FTPd" servers. The low-level networking code no longer caches the Mac's IP address or domain name. It gets this information fresh from MacTCP or Open Transport every time it needs it. This will help in some situations where dialup users disconnect and reconnect and get a new IP address and keep NewsWatcher open throughout this process. This will not, however, solve all problems with this kind of situation, and proper behavour of NewsWatcher in this situation simply cannot be guaranteed. We still highly recommend that you quit NewsWatcher before disconnecting and reconnecting and rerun it after reconnecting.
