Dear SCO Customer, Support Level Supplement (SLS) ptf7049i, the Adaptec adsl HBA Supplement, addresses these problems: SLS ptf7049f addressed the following issues: - The adsl driver hangs in adsl_getblk under heavy disk I/O. - Failover of the OSR5000 controller causes an ODM mirror break. After this occurs, the rebuild time is exceptionally long. - Performing an mccntl -l command causes a panic with adsl. - The performance of ARCserve tape operations is poor on systems using an adsl HBA to control the tape unit. - On some tape devices it may not be possible to restore data from a backup created by ARCserve. - Performance is poor using Quad controller (4944W). - Data Overrun/Underrun errors occur. - The tape drive is not recognized after upgrading to SCO UnixWare Release 2.1.3. - These error messages occur: WARNING: adsl: Data Overrun or Underrun [C1007024] (ha/targetID/lun 0/5/0) WARNING: (adsl, 2) Adaptec PCI SCSI: C1, SDI registry failure -157 SLS ptf7049g addressed the following issue: - The adsl driver as supplied in ptf7049f had a timeout problem. SLS ptf7049i additionally addresses the following issue: - The system hangs or panics using the Adaptec 3944 dual channel differential SCSI HBA. Software Notes and Recommendations ---------------------------------- SLS ptf7049i should only be installed on: SCO UnixWare Application Server Release 2.1.0, 2.1.1, 2.1.2, 2.1.3 SCO UnixWare Personal Edition Release 2.1.0, 2.1.1, 2.1.2, 2.1.3 UnixWare 7 Release 7.0.0, 7.0.1, 7.1.0, 7.1.1 SLS ptf7049i supersedes all versions of SLS ptf3124 and all previous versions of ptf7049. Installation Instructions ------------------------- When using SLS ptf7049i as an additional HBA diskette during an operating system installation, be sure to insert this diskette _before_ any other HBA diskettes. It should be inserted before the distribution HBA diskette, even if the on-screen instructions seem to indicate otherwise. 1. Become root and create a new directory: $ su Password: # mkdir /tmp/pkg # chmod 700 /tmp/pkg # cd /tmp/pkg 2. Download the ptf7049i.hba.adsl.dd.Z file to the newly created /tmp/pkg directory on your machine. 3. Uncompress the file, make a floppy image of the file and add the SLS package to your system: # uncompress /tmp/pkg/ptf7049i.hba.adsl.dd.Z # dd if=ptf7049i.hba.adsl.dd of=/dev/dsk/f0t # pkgadd -d /dev/dsk/f0t 4. Reboot the system after installing this SLS package. Removal Instructions -------------------- 1. As root, remove the SLS package using these commands: $ su Password: # pkgrm adsl 2.
