Dear SCO Customer, Support Level Supplement (SLS) ptf7611b, the UnixWare 7.1.1 pdimkdev Supplement, addresses the following problem: ptf7611a addresses the following problems: sdighost -r [see sdighost(1M)] does not permanently remove the names of disks in the sdi database that do not correspond to any physical disks on the system ('phantom' disks). With SLS ptf7611a, sdighost -r removes unwanted "vtoc" entries from the resmgr database and updates the configuration regardless of whether there are any ghost disks or not. ptf7611b only adds the option to do a quiet install. SLS ptf7611 contains: /etc/scsi/pdimkdev Software Notes and Recommendations ---------------------------------- SLS ptf7611b should only be installed on: UnixWare 7 Release 7.1.1 Installation Instructions ------------------------- 1. Download the ptf7611b.Z file to the /tmp directory on your machine. 2. As root, uncompress the file and add the SLS package to your system using these commands: $ su Password: # uncompress /tmp/ptf7611b.Z # pkgadd -d /tmp/ptf7611b # rm /tmp/ptf7611b Alternatively, this SLS package may be installed in quiet mode, that is, without displaying the release notes and asking for confirmation. To do this, use these commands: $ su Password: # uncompress /tmp/ptf7611b.Z # pkgadd -qd /tmp/ptf7611b all # rm /tmp/ptf7611b 3. There is no need to reboot the system after installing this SLS package. The release notes displayed prior to installation can be found in: /var/sadm/pkg/ptf7611/install/ptf7611.txt Removal Instructions -------------------- 1. As root, remove the SLS package using these commands: $ su Password: # pkgrm ptf7611 2. There is no need to reboot the system after removing this SLS package.
