Support Level Supplement (SLS) ptf7696b, the UnixWare 7.1.1 sdi Driver
Supplement, addresses these issues:

SLS ptf7696a addressed this issue:

1.  Major system performance problems occur due to a memory leak in sdi.

SLS ptf7696b addresses these issues:

2.  When testing the Crossroads 4150 converter attached to the
    Brocade Silkworm switch, the device type noted during a system
    boot is "12."  Later, when the sdiconfig -l command is run,
    a "Message not found!!" occurs because "12" is not a
    recognizable device type.

3.  Changes were made to the legacy passthru SCSI sdi driver to allow
    some third party backup software to function.

Software Notes and Recommendations
----------------------------------

SLS ptf7696b should only be installed on:

        UnixWare 7 Release 7.1.1

Important note: Neither of the following supplements should be installed
after installation of this SLS, since they have drivers that will supersede
the sdi driver contained here:

  1. DCAP ("vm16fs" package)
  2. ptf7603k

If you plan on installing either (or both) of these supplements, you
should reinstall SLS ptf7696b.


Installation Instructions
-------------------------

1. Download the ptf7696b.Z file to the /tmp directory on your machine.

2. As root, uncompress the file and add the package to your system
   using these commands:

        $ su
        Password: <type your root password
        # uncompress /tmp/ptf7696b.Z
        # pkgadd -d /tmp/ptf7696b
        # rm /tmp/ptf7696b

Alternatively, this SLS package may be installed in quiet mode,
that is, without displaying the release notes and asking for
installation confirmation.  To do this, use these commands:

        $ su
        Password: <type your root password
        # uncompress /tmp/ptf7696b.Z
        # pkgadd -qd /tmp/ptf7696b all
        # rm /tmp/ptf7696b

3. Reboot the system after installing this package.

The release notes displayed prior to installation can be found in:

        /var/sadm/pkg/ptf7696/install/ptf7696.txt

Removal Instructions
--------------------

1. As root, remove the package using these commands:

        $ su
        Password: <type your root password
        # pkgrm ptf7696

2. Reboot the system after removing this package.
