GNU Bourne Again Shell

bash is GNU's sh replacement, with many extra features built in. bash has advanced command line editing and completion features, is mostly POSIX compliant, and has full built-in help.

Enhanced C Shell

tcsh is an enhanced but completely compatible version of the Berkeley UNIX C shell, csh(1). It is a command language interpreter usable both as an interactive login shell and a shell script command processor. It includes a command-line editor, programmable word completion, spelling correction, a history mechanism, job control and a C-like syntax.

Further details are available via the tcsh README.

The Z-Shell

zsh is yet another shell replacement. This shell is highly customizable, has very flexible command line completion and editing (even more so than those features found in bash) and is very well documented. Due to the huge number of options, zsh can be confusing for novice users, but once set up is a very powerful shell.
